Today I watched Russell on happiness.
I saw a particularly useful point: when a person enters a state of sustained excitement, the things that can trigger excitement become fewer. Therefore, things that cause high excitement become scarce resources for that person. Once the source of these scarce resources is lost, it can lead to immense suffering, as other things struggle to maintain the previous state of excitement.
When a person is calm, many things can serve as sources of general excitement, continuously flowing. Thus, one should pursue calmness and enjoy general excitement within it.
Happiness will quietly arrive.
The question is, what are the points of excitement around us?
It requires self-observation to identify what things can bring a little excitement, rather than maintaining high excitement.
Spending a long time scrolling through short videos is high excitement.
Engaging in mindless entertainment for a long time is high excitement.
Be wary of those things that trigger high excitement.
